About the Tufts Summer Scholars Program

The Tufts Summer Scholars Program is a University-wide initiative that offers research apprenticeships with faculty/clinical mentors to motivated Tufts undergraduates. The Program gives students a chance to be on the front line of discovery and scholarship at Tufts today. Every Tufts school, department, and research center provides opportunities for interested students to experience research first hand. By exploring the challenge of creating new knowledge, we bring learning to life.

In response to the Task Force on the Undergraduate Experience’s proposals to enhance our intellectual climate, build community, and add coherence to the curriculum, Tufts University created the Tufts Summer Scholars Program in 2003.

This year, support will be provided for 50 Tufts undergraduates to do summer research with faculty from Tufts schools and affiliated hospitals.

Each student will receive $3,500 for full-time research that will ideally lead to a senior honors thesis. In addition, a $1,000 grant to defray research expenses will be made available to each recipient up until the time of graduation.  Faculty/clinical mentors will receive a $1,000 research stipend.
