   New Technologies and Civic Engagement
Summary:
   The proposed project aims to study if and how the integration of a technology that supports the formation of virtual communities purposefully designed to promote positive youth development (i.e. Zora) into the lives of freshman on campus, has an effect in their face to face civic engagement and their long-term success in their academic/social experience throughout college.

What is the timeframe for this research opportunity?
   summer/Fall Since this is a big project that has many components, I envision that at least two different honors thesis can result from this work. One of them focusing more on curriculum development and teaching the freshman courses and the other focusing on the actual study of experimental results.
Prerequisities for students?
   experience in curriculum development, experience in teaching, good-organizational skills
Responsibilities for students?
   develop curriculum, teach a course for freshman during the pre-orientation, engage in development of questionnaires and research design methods
