Opportunity:
Hanzi Online: A Web-based Tutoring Program on Chinese Characters
Summary:
Learning to read and write Chinese characters is one of the most difficulty and time consuming tasks in the study of Chinese. A web-based tutoring program on Chinese characters will allow instructors to devote more of the precious class time to the more important aspects of language acquisition (such as real communication in the target language), as students can work on their characters with the tutoring program at their leisurely pace outside of the classroom. I am currently working with AT to develop a web-based tutoring program on Chinese characters: Hanzi Online. The first phase of the project will be a comprehensive review of exiting software programs on Chinese characters. The second phase will be a more detailed project design in collaboration with AT. The third phase will be the creation and implementation of the program.
