Opportunity:
	"Outsourcing Reproductive Labour"
Summary:
	In recent years, India has become the capital of commercial surrogacy, often referred to as "womb renting." Abjectly poor women are being recruited to bear the children of affluent couples, mostly from the global north. My research focuses on the implications of the use of Artificial Reproductive Technologies (ART) to outsource reproductive labour. Such outsourcing raises a number of ethical, legal and social questions which I shall focus on in my work.

What is the timeframe for this research opportunity?
	Complete all research by end of August 2009. Hard deadline of producing a research paper (which I have been commissioned to write) is NOvember 2009.
Prerequisities for students?
	Student must be interested in and have some background in women's health issues. A working knowledge of Indian history and culture is preferable.
Responsibilities for students?
	Student will help in researching reports of commercial surrogacy in Indian media and in women's groups such as SAMA and AIDWA. Student will help in interviewing stakeholders such as lawyers groups, members of the Commission for Women.
