Opportunity:
Computer-based attention training systems for children with ADHD: non-pharmacological intervention for children with ADHD
Summary:
Interest in non-pharmacological treatments for ADHD has grown in recent years despite a lack of definitive evidence for their effectiveness. In collaboration with public schools in the greater Boston area, we are planning a randomized clinical trial of two computer-based attention training interventions, one that uses EEG neurofeedback and the other that uses a Standard Computer Format. These systems relies on specific computer tasks to altering brain functioning and increase attention. Anecdotal evidence suggests the efficacy of these systems, but we know of no other well-controlled studies of their effects.
