SUMMER SCHOLARS

Frequently Asked Questions for Students - Tufts 2004 Summer Scholars

Who can apply to the Tufts 2008 Summer Scholars Program?

All Tufts undergraduate students who will be a sophomore, junior, or senior during the 2008-2009 academic year may apply.

I can't find the application on this website.  Where is it?

The application materials are available here.

What if I already have a mentor with whom I would like to work?

Students are encouraged to contact that mentor and have him or her post the opportunity on this website.  The student and mentor can then follow the procedure outlined in the application materials to submit a complete application.

Do I have to use this site to find a research mentor and a project?

You may use this site to find a mentor looking for an undergraduate scholar, or you may initiate a project on your own with a mentor.  If you choose the second option, your mentor must create an opportunity on the Summer Scholars website, as this is a requirement for the application.

I have contacted several potential mentors of projects in which I am interested.  They have all invited me to apply for the program.  Once the application is available, do I have to pick one mentor to apply with or can I submit multiple applications?

You must apply with one mentor, and can only submit one application.

Is the program the same as the IR Research Scholars Program?

No.  The International Relations program has its own funds for the support of student research projects.  For their deadline and more information, please visit the International Relations website.
